Misdeeds, regardless of size and scope, not only reflect on one’s character, they damage us on a deeper level and we pay for them in one way or another. In Wicca, we believe in the “Law of Three.” Our deeds come back on us three times greater than our initial act. In short, we reap what we sow and harming another ultimately hurts the perpetrator even more in the end. Naturally, if you are a smart witch this is something you try to avoid. This concept goes beyond the practice of magic, however.
Every day opportunities to do nice things for other people present themselves, i.e., do you hold the door open for the person behind you; do you let someone with fewer groceries go ahead of you in line at the cash register; do you give up your seat on the bus so someone else can sit? These are tiny opportunities, yes, but how you react to them says something about you.
Do you add positive energy to the universe (behave selflessly), or drain it (behave selfishly)?
Those examples of everyday opportunities, add up. Passing through the world blind to the needs of others or with only your own self-interest in mind, might be just a single drop in the pool of human negativity, but every person contributing several drops a day becomes a downpour we could easily drown in.
Avoiding this is simple. Be aware of the others around you, and be accountable for your actions. Adopt the “it’s not all about me” attitude. Remember, positive actions also come back to us three-fold.
